Hi, I faced the same problem . I installed Netview 5.1 and NSM 1.7 on AIX 4.2.1. The sfevent could be started under XWindows, but failed under CDE. No other error messages were logged in nv6000.log.

Did you comment out, or uncomment that line in .dtprofile? You want to uncomment it - by default it is a comment. The idea is that CDE login WILL process your .profile and .kshrc. Cordially, Leslie A

This is normal. The daemon sfevents starts together with the Netview GUI. Its the daemon for getting events from the 2220. So you get only events from the 2220 when the Netview GUI ist started. State
