Is the "Instant Archive" functionality really that instant?? I.e. does TSM just mark the files in the database that they are now a part of an archive, and therefore the expiration processing doesn't

Instant archive is not that instant. It makes a new tape(s) from the 'current' full backup of the node and it (of course) does take time to make the tape. Steffan
