Since you are going to a device with diferrent geometry a dsmfmt will be required. Hence you must back up your database, format it and reload it. I would think that if you followed the procedure in C

Define new 3390 dbvols, then delete the old 3380 dbvols. The db will be copied automatically. If you do not have access to both 3380 and 3390 DASD at the same time, then the process is more complex (
