On the same note - sort of... If set my Copy Serialization to STATIC and am not using any compression (except, possibly unknown default settings) why would I get 3 or 4 retries for open files? I set

It does not matter at all are you using compression or not. The problem is how much the file is changing and what serialization is set in the copy group. If it is SHRSTatic or SHRDYnamic and the file
