We are having an adventure trying to configure a 3494 ATL and 3590-FC drives to be used by TSM on an AIX server. Never having done this kind of configuration before, we are having lots of issues and

Dear Zoltan, I am hooking up an 3494 with 3 scsi drives to tsm 5.1 and w2k. Eventough I see mij 3590 drives on my scsi bus I cant define the drives because of an I/O error. Does this sound familliar

Yep, sounds just like us. However, we might have a clue (or a resolution, later today). IBM called and said to be expecting some cables today. These are cables to connect the 3590 drives to the ATL L

OK, You have to put the CA-1 exit in to ignore the open systems tapes first. You define the ATL in TSM and that is where you set the category codes for TSM. Lets say you choose 300 for privates, 301
