Greetings everybody, Does anyone using ADSM MVS V2 make copies of the database backup tapes? We are looking at using IEBGENER or FATAR to copy the daily database backup tapes to an offsite location.

Yes, I copy the dbbackup tapes after a full backup. I send the copies offsite and keep the orginals onsite. My full backups are to specific volumes, and the copies are to specific volumes. The copy j

I learned another way of doing db backups: use device class FILE. Then you've got flat files containing database backups. You can move and copy these any old place. The downside, obviously, is if you

Have you tried to do a restore with this process? I ask because I didn't think this would work. ADSM uses the Volhist file to determine which volumes to use for the restore - and the copies wouldn't
