Don, is this about color, or about notification during a maintenance window? For color, have you considered automatic acknowledgement? In the Interface Down event in varbind 4 there is the object id

My experience with 'changing' Object and Symbol statuses are somewhat limited. However, I have done some 'interesting' things with it. What I did find undesireable was in the API routine OVwSetStatus
