You know, using the java interface (jnbSA) over ssh and a vpn... It's so slow, I may as well shoot myself. Anybody at veritas listening? the Motif interface was nice and fast, compared to this POS. H

Agree, but it's much better if you locally install the client on your workstation. When you have found out how to know which port it use please tell me !! It uses random ports. You might configure so

totally agree with you on the slow factor on Java... I actually prefer using the NT GUI it's a lot better then Motif or Java.....my $.02 You know, using the java interface (jnbSA) over ssh and a vpn.

I totally agree with the performance and slowness of the Java Interface. We recently upgraded to NB 4.5 at our production environment, and I was a little upset the Motif version is no longer supporte

Those of us who've been running Windows all this time have always known the java client sucks. :-) I agree that the NT GUI is pretty good for remote access. Not that that does any of you *nix people

If I remember correctly, you still have to use a login / password when using the admin console. So even if someone gained access to your PC they would need a userid / password for NetBackup administr
And what will also help: Use VNC. get it from http://www.tightvnc.org This will allow you to start restores from across the ocean at local speeds. Tested. Wout.

I use the NT gui to manage my NT servers. It kicks butt and is alot better than the previous all java gui that i had to use under 3.4 to manage my Solaris servers. veritas-bu-admin AT mailman.eng.aub
