I doubt any of us want to be associated with "THE BACKUP ... from THE BEGINNING of THE TAPE" since that means for some substantial time you are without backup! (my emphasis) :-(

The only way to start at the beginning of the tape is to start with an empty tape. I'd suggest doing your oracle backup, then suspending the tape (bpmedia -suspend). The tape images will expire norma
