Digging through mminfo while cleaning up the system of cruft I found some old backups sitting around. I saw we have "full", "incr" and "1"... I'm thinking the previous admin was tyring differnt level

My understanding of a level 1 backup is that it backs up everything that has been changed since the last full backup an incr backup only backs up what has changed since the last backup of any type. H

Robert, The numeric levels correspond to UNIX "dump" levels. A level "n" backup includes files that have changed since the last backup of a lower level. A full is the equivalent of a level zero backu

Incremental and level 9 are not the same. An incremental goes back to the last previous backup. A level 9 goes back to the last backup lower than a 9. In the follwing scenarios, assume that only one

Peter makes a good point. Level backups were confusing to me until I saw the diagrams in the manual. If you have a Legato media kit (the set of CDs) there should be one labeled "Documentation Suite"
