You say "differ". Does it differ *completely*, or is there any pattern? You say the label on tape differs from media database. If you query the database, is there anything with that tape name in it?

And this is true prior to the relabel? I don't know any way to rewrite a tape and keep the information on it, so I'm assuming that this is an issue in the database. That shouldn't cause a duplicate

Yes... I see it. I re-index the tapes with scanner command. With duplicate tape labels I let them both expire and re-label them manually. I guess I have been using windows applications too long... I

If you want to delete te tape you can just delete the tape out the media DB and treat it as a new tape. This is not the best solution, but it worked for us a few times. If i remember correctly, this
