That's expected because if invoked with --server, you'd need to talk rsync protocol to the program. Do you get any logfile entries when trying a backup via BackupPC? Tino. -- What we resist, persists

Guido, The "--server --sender" options are merely security measures to ensure that if someone were to gain access to the backuppc account on a host, they could not run the rsync command as root with
