That's a fair point. BackupPC assumes you have already sorted out the authentication system before setting up clients. I'm a nut for SSH, but even I found the "Unable to read 4 bytes" error unusually

It depends what you mean by "need". I follow Donald Knuth's belief in "Literate Programming" that documentation and program should go together, for the sake of the program writer as well as the user.
