Waiting for mount of scratch volume??

Hi,



I tried to backup TSM(4.2) database to 4MM device(IBM 7206 220), by using

Manual Libraries

Manual Drives

and Generic Tape Device Classes.

But after the message "Waiting for mount of scratch volume", I insert a DDS-4 into the device, but after a while the tape was eject and still "Waiting for mount of scratch volume".

WHY?

Does the DDS-4 need some special treatment?

Did you run the command "label libv" to the DDS4 tape before using it as a scratch?

label libv MANUAL4MM 4MMBAK1

Then I can backup TSM db.
