I was recently assigned Netbackup Operations at a new job and my previous experience was really only with BackupExec and for some reason I am having trouble wrapping my head around the addition of Volume Pools, Tape Expirations, etc. From what it sounds like, you would assign some tapes to certain backup types.
Currently I am running one volume pool and with daily incrementals and weekly fulls on a unit remote from me. After the fulls run I am searching the catalog for the last full backup and then sent the list of tapes for the technician to export for offsite storage.
Does anyone have a couple helpful suggestions on best practice regarding this?
