Environment:
Specrum Protect 8.1.8 on 1 Windows Server 2012R2.
Spectrum Portect for VE 8.1.4.1 on another Windows Server 2012R2.
vCenter with 8 nodes ESXi, version 5.5

500 Virtual Machine
60 DataStores
Total Storage is about 150 TB

We do LANFREE to a IBM TS3310 Library with 4 Drives LTO7.
We can also Backup via LAN with a dedicated 10Gb connection.

Question:
Do you have suggestions regarding these parameters?
vmmaxparallel, vmlimitperdatastore, vmlimitperhost and vmmaxbackupsessions

Last weekend I did my test with the following parameters:

vmmaxparallel 4
vmlimitperdatastore 2
vmlimitperhost 2
vmmaxbackupsessions 4

So all those settings control how hard you hit your vm infrastructure for backups. If you have fast servers with fast storage, and plenty of free storage on your datastores (default setting is 15% free I think) feel free to up those numbers. Eventually you'll get a point of no return where the datamovers CPU can't keep up, or your TSM server IO can't keep up. Incrementally step them up and see where it starts to fall apart and then back them off.
