Our offsite reclamation has never performed well. We could run reclamation against the copy pool for 99 or 98% and get one or two volumes back out of 15 after running it all night.
I'm beginning to use MOVE DATA instead to get those volumes back from the offsite pool. It actually works quite well and I'm pleased at how well it works - at least compared to the reclamation process!
Question:
Is it necessary to issue RECONSTRUCT=YES for reclamation of offsite storage volumes? I have been using it to this point, but am not sure how much this slows down the process. I've read that when using normal reclamation aggregates are reconstructed. Is it necessary to do this for offsite tapes?
I guess another way to ask is: What if I don't issue RECONSTRUCT=YES during MOVE DATA?
