Hi all,

I am trying to replace a ts3100 tape library/drive with a ts3200 library/drive. ideally, I would like to add the new library to the stgpool and then remove the old. To the best of my knowledge, this is not possible. Also, I thought that maybe I could erase stgpool and recreate it with new library as the device. This too didn't work, because drmedia is tied to the stgpool.

So how can I replace/upgrade a tape drive/library without loosing current drmedia (most of it is offsite)? We are running TSM 7.1 on rhel6 system

Thanks

Check out all the tapes from the old library.
Check in all the tapes into the new library.
Update the device class associated with your storage pool (upd devc tape library=new_library_name)?
Beware that this will affect all storage pools using this device class, but I guess that's what you want in this case.
