Upgrade from TSM5.3 on W2K to TSM5.4 on W2K3 same server

Hi all

Is there anyone that did this ... and is there any issue or best way to do it

I have TSM 5.3 on a Windows 2000 server ... I wanna migrate to TSM 5.4 on Windows 2003
The problem is that I have to use the same box ...

Any suggestion to do this

I would upgrade TSM server code 1st
Bring up TSM server with Win2000 to test the functionality.
If eventhing is okay, then upgrade your OS to Win2003

Do you have a test environment to test this in?

no - i just did it - it's not supported though

Guys, You can install tsm server on windows 2000 server but cannot install BA Client as they have widrawn support for windows 2000 professional in tsm 5.4 version.

I'll do the steps as below for upgradation of tsm server.

1. Backup tsm databse
2. Backup volhist
3. Backup device config
4. Copy dsmserv.opt and dsmserv.dsk
5. Halt the server
6. Un-install TSM 5.3
7. Upgrade OS to windows 2003.
8. Install TSM 5.4 and upgrade TSM database and restore the remaining files.
