Sorry to be the new guy but I 'gotta' start somewhere.
I'm looking at TSM server 6.3.0. It uses a data-domain CIFS share as the primary sequential storage pool. There are multiple storage pools (8), each one being the NEXTSTGPOOL. The problem is there was never a MAXSIZE set up for any of the pools. When TSM allocates a new volume it can be 8 TB. I'd really like them to be smaller, say 80GB. Does anyone know what happens if I set a MAXSIZE limit on a pool that has existing files larger than the limit? The manual says that new files will be allocated in the next pool in line that can contain the file and that I should have at least one pool in the chain that has no limit. However it doesn't say anything about preexisting files. Does anyone have any ideas or run into this kind of thing before?

Nothing will happen to the existing files. They will stay in the pool until migration runs.

Thank you. That is what I was hoping.
I imagine the same outcome for reclamation.
