I have an ESX cluster with 10 hosts and 300 guests. Today my backup schedule is setup to include all hosts in the cluster with an exclude filter defined for names like DECOM*, TEST* and this is working well. Now I have a request to schedule a subset of these clients to run in a backup window 12 hours different because the users are on the other side of the world.
If I setup a schedule to backup 30 specific clients, and those clients are moved between ESX hosts by vMotion and/or Storage vMotion will I need to take any action? My concern is that if I include a client on ESXHostA and the client is moved to ESXHostF will the backup schedule automatically update and continue to back it up, or will I need to take manual action to include it in the schedule again?
This is a case where I can't use the option "Newly added virtual machines are included in this backup task" as I only want these specific hosts to be included in this time shifted schedule.
