We recently migrated to a Cisco blade chassis and I built a new TSM4VE server. The backups work but I want to be sure they are writing the control data to disk and not tape. How can I tell this? The old TSM4VE server did write to disk, and I put VMCTLMC "VMCTL" in the data mover opt file, so it should write to disk, but I want to be sure so we do not break any tapes.

I kept the save data mover names, can I keep doing an incremental forever backup, or will I have to do a full backup again?

If you just replaced the data mover part and NOT the TSM server, then all should be fine.

If the whole TSM Server was replaced - moved to a Cisco Blade - and if you did a DB restore from the old to the new, the system should still be logically the same.

If the situation is any of the above, this means you don't need to do anything.
