Hi

We are receiving the below error and not sure if it's a timeout thing or something else.
Some document get retrieved but script fails after some retrievals and I see the below error in the Window EVENT Viewer

Any idea what to look at:

Task: using ARSDOC GET with PARM File that can contain 100+ retrievals
Then I have it scripted to do this multiple times, so can retrieve 10,000+ documents in a run
It may stop after retrieving a 1000 or 3000

ARSDOC runs fine for newer documents ( 2 years or newer ) because they are still in CACHE also
However Documents trying to retrieve are in TSM only ( 5+ years old ) from are parameter settings

Reason if needed to know:
5+ years is end of life, however customer want the old reports/index on their own premise, for just in case thing
Also getting ready to upgrade everything and dumping things out ... Yes very OLD version

Are we also running Citrix?

Years ago encountered something like this and it was Citrix that was causing the issue.
Citrix would be doing something with the tsmapi.dll and the TSM Client did not like that.
Compare the tsmapi.dll in c:\windows\system32 with one of the extracted TSM Client installation package, notice that the time stamp do not match.

Solution is to uninstall/reinstall the TSM Client.
On the Citrix app exclude the TSM Client executables and dll's .

If we are not running Citrix, then there is some app that is doing something to the tsmapi.dll .

Also, if we are running an old version of the TSM Client. Hopefully we have a copy of the TSM Client installation code. Not sure if the old TSM Client code is still available on the IBM public ftp site.

Good Luck,
Sias

No Citrix

Do have McAFee running should we maybe exclude files with that ?

I found tsmapi.dll on backup images .. However they are different version
current tsmapi.dll is 5.1.7.0
Oldest version found is: 5.3.2.0

Think I can just try and replace the dll ? after backing up of course

Thanks

Okay.
Yes, I would exclude the TSM Client directory and the dll from being scan.

Was the scan running at the time of the backup?
When do we see the issue?
If its during a scan and there was the backup running.
Suggest that we do not run the scan at the time of the schedule backup.
Or update the schedule to run when the scan complete.

Think I can just try and replace the dll ? after backing up of course
Are we going to use the TSM B/A Client to backup the dll?
If there is a problem with the TSM B/A Client, then how are we going to get the file back?
Do we have a copy TSM B/A Client installation code?

Before you do anything.
Check and see if you have the TSM B/A Client code.
If not, check the IBM public ftp site and see if that version of the TSM B/A Client is still available for download.

ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/storage/tivoli-storage-management/maintenance/client/

Nice link you sent me ( thanks ) however version do not go that for back .. oh well
tsmapi.dll is 5.1.7.0

And no ... I can not find an old enough version of TSM Client .. Before my time

Retrievals ARSDOC is working fine and Users are fine, just when I try mass retrieval
Checked TSM ACTLOG and only shows this ?
ANR0480W terminated - connection with client severed

FYI: Everything is local drives/install no network connection to TSM

Question maybe: Is there any easy way to have TSM load everything back in CACHE
Maybe a DSM.OPT setting or something to change ?

Or should I start posting this issue to ODUSERGROUP

Thanks again

... I can not find an old enough version of TSM Client ..
Bummer...
I would not mess replacing the tsmapi.dll , if something goes wrong.
We are going to be in a very bad situation since the TSM Client version that we need is no longer available on the IBM public ftp site.
At one point there were some mirror sites to ftp.software.ibm.com that contain old ADSM/TSM Client code. The mirror sites that I have, no longer exist. Unless there are some new mirror sites that I am not aware of.

ANR0480W terminated - connection with client severed
In the actlog what are the messages leading up to the ANR0480W.
Did we reach a time out limit?

Is there any easy way to have TSM load everything back in CACHE
Bad news. No such feature to load everything back in cache.

Maybe a DSM.OPT setting or something to change ?
Not sure what you want the client to do. In the dsm.opt , containing options that identify the ADSM/TSM/SP server to contact, specify backup, archive, restore, retrieve, space management options, set date, time, and number formats.

should I start posting this issue to ODUSERGROUP
Would not hurt. Some one there may have encounter the same issue.

Good Luck,
Sias
