Hi there,

Anyone have experience with TSM STA for lanfree on Solaris ? I cant see the tape drives.
They are zoned, and can see them at solaris level but not with the TSM STA utility to list them. I am reading about rmstdev used to delete the devices picked up with solaris native driver. Looks like this is with 6.3 STA but I have 5.5.
Basically the solaris OS native scsi tape driver prevents the IBM tape driver / STA from getting access to the devices. Looking for easy way to get rid of solaris native driver or disable it etc.

Thanks

If I remember my Solaris you get rid of the native st devices by editing the /usr/kernel/drv/st.conf file and deleting/commenting out the st entries. You may need also to manually delete the st devices but a reconfigure reboot at least will not bring them back in after the st.conf file has been edited.

Thanks Tiger, tried it but no joy. Im now downloading tsm server for solaris which apparently contains rmstdev.

In addition to commenting out everything in st.conf, unload the "st" driver.
