Does anybody have experience with partitioned SUN/Oracle SL500 and TSM?
Is there any tips or tricks we should know?

Are you referring to logical partitioning wherein a partition is controlled by one TSM server and the others by one or more TSM server/s? Or, partitioned wherein one TSM controls all?

2 partitions: one for Netbackup, one for TSM ( which in reality are two TSM servers: library manager + library client )

In order to have two logical partitions, you need to have two contol paths available and two sets to tape drives available for each environment.

    The logic is that:

    1) one control path (which is the robotics to move tapes around) is wired for Netbackup while the second one is wired for TSM control,

    2) the drives are for each environment so no contention arises.

In short, if you have four drives, two each will be alotted for each environment along with a control path for each.

Does SL500 use a dedicated FC port for the control path?

I am not 100% sure if the control path for the robotics is separate. Most tape libraries have the control path piggy-backing with a tape drive.

You may have to ask a Service tech to verify. Normally, two paths exist for redundancy.
