PREDATAR Control23

Hello all,

With my new TSM Server on Windows, I have a serious problem:
Restoring a file of 1024 MB takes at least 4 minutes, instead of 10 seconds: normal time. Moreover, it is on AIX clients only.

TSM server: 7.1.7.0 on Windows Server 2012
TSM clients: 7.1.3.0 on AIX 7 and AIX 6

Observations:

- The network speed is good
- The same data to restore, backup going on in a normal time
- This problem does not occur with Windows clients

For help please!

thank you in advance for your help

this is the output of restore operation

It's abnormaly slow

The network transfer speed (donées de réseau) is the same as the aggregate (group de fichier), which means that it's not the processing overhead on the TSM Server or Client that is causing the issue. It can be one of two things, the data read from media is slow and as such the data transfer is also slow, or the network is slow.

Try to FTP a 2GB file from the TSM Server to that TSM Client and see what kind of transfer rate you get. If that's also slow, you'll know it's the network. If it's fast, then you will need to look at your storage pool device.

I've tried with a 1GB file as requested: see below

1073759344 octets reçus en 9,356 secondes (1,121e+05 ko/s)
local :xxxxxx.zip distant : xxxxxx.zip

Network speed is good!

To confirm it again:

226 Transfer complete.
2225705056 octets reçus en 19,52 secondes (1,114e+05 ko/s)
local : SP_7.1.7_WIN_S_S_AGTML.exe distant : SP_7.1.7_WIN_S_S_AGTML.exe

Also, on an other AIX client:

Total number of objects restored: 1
Total number of objects failed: 0
Total number of bytes transferred: 1,02 GB
Data transfer time: 8,65 sec
Network data transfer rate: 123 679,29 KB/sec
Aggregate data transfer rate: 4 070,29 KB/sec
Elapsed processing time: 00:04:26

I think that the network throughput is good
Somethings in TSM server limit the data transfer to the AIX client!
What do you think about it?
