I'm running TSM client 4.2.1 on RedHat linux 6.2. The kernel version is 2.2.19-6.2.16 (although, I think that point is irrelevant).

I'm trying to rotate my TSM logs using the logrotate utility. The problem is that logrotate runs at 04:02, which makes sense for all things other than backups, and this appears to confuse the TSM client.

With processes like apache et al, I simple HUP can be sent to the process, or a copytruncate used in the logrotate config files. The behavior I'm seeing here is that the file is getting rotated and truncated, but that TSM is no longer logging to the trunc'ed file...at least not that 'tail -f' shows.

Curious if anyone else has experienced anything like this. If so, how did you work around it? I know this is more of a question about logrotate than TSM, but I'm only experiencing this problem with TSM, nothing else.
