TSM for SAN licensing

Hi

In a scenario where I have a IBM P7+ server with 32 cores, running 40 lpars. If I want to do LAN free backups on just one lpar do I have to license all 32 cores or if I cap the one lpar at 5 cores can I just license the 5 processors ?

If the latter, does it have to be a hard cap in the lpar profile or will IBM accept the lpar being limited to 5 by the number of virtual processors limit ?

When I last worked on this, the CAP should be set to HARD. IBM will do regular audits on this.

I can live with a hard cap, its certainly better than the prospect of having to license all 32 cores ! :up:
