TSM 5.2.0.2 on Solaris 5.8

Greetings.

I've managed to inherit a TSM server running 5.2.0.2 on Solaris 5.8. As the most experienced person onsite I've been tasked with getting the TSM to Linux 7.1 and eventually to a 8.1 server.

From what I've read about the migration/upgrade from 5.3.6 it is pretty straight forward with built in IBM supplied tools. But getting from 5.2 to 5.3 is the painful part as I have been unable to extract 5.3 licensed media from IBM (already logged a call).

The suggested method is to attempt a server export from 5.2 and hope to import into a Solaris 7.1.3 server.

Any alternative suggestions or advice would be gratefully received.

Because you are changing platforms, export/import is the route you will need to take as documented here:
