Tivoli and HP EVA / HP Business Copy

Hi,

We currently use TSM to back up our enterprise. We plan on an implementing an HP-based SAN with an EVA array and we are thinking about using HP's BusinessCopy software to make an offline snapshot that we can backup w/ Tivoli.

Has anyone had experience backing up a Business Copy clone using TSM? Any recommendations or suggestions?

No, just do it. Only do not expect any better performance or less load on the production data during backup. In most cases you'll find that using BC doesn't really buy you anything except a higher license bill with the HP people. YMMV, obviously.

I have taken the liberty and read the EVA Admin Guide and found out that the only performance hit you will receive is with the number of sessions both BC jobs and GUI sessions. With this in mind, I would recommend that TSM be scheduled around time where BC is not in primetime or under heavy load. You dont want TSM adding to the stress as it reads data from disk during the backup routines.
