Hi everyone,

I have been working on TSM for 3-4 months. I'm so new so I'm confused a little bit. I'm painted diagram before installing and check it. Please review my diagram.

I have some question;
- Do i register DAGName on TSM side?
- I'm planned install TDP on my per DAGNodes, is it true method?

If my two questions is true; IBM says, "Register Exchange Proxy and Grand it to Exchange Node".

DAGName: DAG-1
DAGNode1: EXMB1
DAGNode2: EXMB2

grant proxynode target=DAG-1 agent=EXMB1,EXMB2,EXMB1_TDP,EXMB2_TDP

is it enough grand permission for my diagram or TSM need to

grant proxynode target=EXMB1_TDP agent=EXMB1
grant proxynode target=EXMB2_TDP agent=EXMB2

commands ?

By the way this EXMB1_TDP and EXMB2_TDP names is Data Protection for Exchange area right(I uploaded second image for this question :))

Please help me about this questions.

Hello,

For the Exchange purpose only, and for the diagram you show, you must register 5 nodes :
- 1 DAG Node : DAG-1
- 2 TDP Nodes (1 for each node of the DAG) : EXMB1_TDP and EXMB1_TDP
- 2 VSS Requestor Nodes (1 for each node of the DAG) : EXMB1 and EXMB1
Then you must grant authority as written on the diagram.

See, from the documentation :
Ensure that the Tivoli Storage Manager administrator issues the grant proxynode command for each member server in the DAG to grant permission to the DAG member server to act as a proxy for the DAG node. If the configuration wizard is not used to configure the Tivoli Storage Manager server, the proxies must be defined. In addition, the backup-archive client node
and the Data Protection node need proxynode authority. The backup-archive client node also needs proxynode authority to act on behalf of the Data Protection node. For example, the Tivoli Storage Manager administrator can
issue the following commands on the Tivoli Storage Manager server:

register node backup_archive_client_node password
register node data_protection_node password
grant proxynode target=data_protection_node agent=backup_archive_client_node
register node DAG_node password
grant proxynode target=DAG_node agent=backup_archive_client_node
grant proxynode target=DAG_node agent=data_protection_node

The main question is about the wizard question that is missing some fields. See my example (with your nodes) :

There is a field for the DAG Node that is missing on yours.
Is your DAG set up at Exchange Level ? Did you install 6.4 or newer TSM for Exchange ?

Hi,

My environment;
- Exchange Server 2010
- TSM v6.3.5
- TDP v6.4.1

Actually i tested on standalone mailbox server and that is not member a DAG. I think that may be associated with it.

You are right, 5 nodes have to register to TSM environment. Erwans did you try TDP installation before. I'm little worried :)

By the way which documentation contains this information ?

By the way which documentation contains this information ?
Data Protection for Microsoft Exchange Server Installation and User's Guide, IBM Tivoli Storage Manager for Mail
Version 6.4 (p73-74).

PS : Could you elaborate on what you're worrying about ?
