System Files for windows 2000

We just converted to Windows 2000 on our servers. Does anyone know if there are any system files that need to be backuped. On our c: drive we only have the operating system on it and we really do not want to back up this drive since if it fails we would rebuild the server from scratch.

well, if you gonna rebuild the OS disk anyway, you won't need no system objects



The backupregistry option specifies whether to back up the Windows registry

during domain incremental backup or backups which include the Windows system

drive.



so just don't include your system disk (C: probably) in your DOMAIN list

or put the

BACKUPRegistry no (yes is default on later levels of TSM Clients)

option in your "dsm.opt" if you are backing anything on your OS disk

You use the systemobject in Windows 2000 to backup all related system files. If you run an incrememtal on C:, then it defaults to include the systemobject in your backup. You can add the entry all-local to your dsm.opt to ensure all local drives and the systemobject are backed up.
