Hi

Given that Windows Server 2022 was released in August 2021 (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/lifecycle/products/windows-server-2022), what is the usual wait before IBM adds support?

I'm wondering if it is worth trying with the latest BA (8.1.12.0) and TDP for SQL (8.1.12.0 as well) and see if it works?

My issue is that I'm upgrading a production system, and waiting for IBM to release support is not really feasable, but on the other hand installing new hardware with Windows Server 2019 when 2022 is out just seems idiotic..

It's usually been a few months. As far as I know, since the client uses Microsoft's API's they (IBM) has to wait on Microsoft to address any issues that they find in QA. That said, I've never been in a rush to update to the latest greatest of anything. Been burned too many times by that. Plus, nearly all of the vendors/applications we run also have to be vetted against the new OS.

Keeping 2019 or 2016 up to date? Sure. It was at least a year before we started to deploy 2019 for projects. My two cents.

Yeah, I'm also leaning towards sticking with 2019, since I really don't need anything from 2022, and I'd hate a "sorry, that OS is unsupported"-reply on any possible issues from IBM.

It's just tempting to go with 2022 given it got HyStart++ (https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/draft-ietf-tcpm-hystartplusplus-00) and RACK (https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc8985) that improves performance for TCP connections - however, that might not be that important for the local neighbour machines as it would be over a WAN/internet, so.. yeah..

Always get a ticket open with IBM and see what they say. I've done that a few time's just to verify compatibility.
Also, in-place upgrades of Windows has really gotten better over the years. So much so, unless we are updating the application at the same time, I'd rather upgrade in-place. Just easier than building out a whole new system and doing a migration. Makes testing for all parties involved better, and less changes to validate.
