Good afternoon TSMers,

Our company is looking at migrating our current unstructured shared drive (flat files) to Sharepoint 2007.

The amount of data we are looking at moving is relatively small (~1.5TB) however the growth is what concerns me. We are having a debate as to weather we create one large SQL database or make smaller ones based upon team sites. The Sharepoint admins are pushing back strongly against smaller databases.

If anyone has experience in large scale sharepoint deployments and how they manage disaster recovery please post your comments.

Use smaller databases as there won't be a single point of failure. Recovery for individual databases, if needed, would be faster.

This is also what we do in our Oracle environment - creating smaller databases as much as possible.
