No much information to go by other than the schedule backup failed with RC 12.

What version of the TSM/Spectrum Server and B/A Client?
Suspect that the B/A Client is hosted on Windows os. What flavor of the Windows is hosting the TSM Client?

Is the TSM/Spectrum B/A Client a new installation?
Have the schedule backup completed before?
Are the results the same with the manual backup?

Check the dsmerror.log and/or the dsmshed.log.
Is the TSM/Spectrum schedule service running?

On the TSM/Spectrum server check the actlog around the time frame of when the backup failed.

If there are no hints as to why the backup failed.
Start the schedule service in the foreground. On the TSM Server update the schedule to run within 60seconds.
Watch the schedule service that's running in the foreground for any error message(s).
