Daily my backups fail with this error code. I am using 2003 SP1 Storage Server, a Dell NAS box. I am getting this in my DSMError.log:

07/10/2007 22:48:21 Snapshot cache size adjusted to accommodate insufficient space:
07/10/2007 22:48:21 Cache volume directory = e:\tsmlvsacache\Volume{6e42ac95-b7a2-4d76-9817-059521741d66}\
07/10/2007 22:48:21 Snap volume = e:
07/11/2007 01:59:22 PrivIncrFileSpace: Received rc=653 from fioGetDirEntries: \\?\tsmlvsa_Volume{b06606a8-14fa-11db-a7b1-505054503030} \MCNode2
07/11/2007 01:59:22 ANS1228E Sending of object 'g:' failed
07/11/2007 01:59:22 ANS1349E The Logical Volume Snapshot Agent could not take a snapshot of the specified volume.

07/11/2007 01:59:25 ANS1999E Incremental processing of '\\titanium\f$\*' stopped.

07/11/2007 01:59:50 ANS1375E The snapshot operation failed.

07/11/2007 01:59:50 ANS1512E Scheduled event 'TITANIUM-FULL' failed. Return code = 12.

Can anyone help? I have no idea where to go from here.

Is this a cluster? If so the cache size is based on the size of the drive the cache location is on, not the volume being backed up (at least that is how it was when I last used it over a year ago). So if you have the cache location for the 500GB G: drive on E: and E: is 50GB then setting the cache size percentage to 1% allocates 500MB (based on 1% of the size of the E: drive).

Look for tsmlvsacache directories. If not create one on the largest drive or filesystem as Chad suggested - insert the value rated against the amount of space you want to use for caching - increase in rations until error disappears. In most cases a search for the directory path is all that is needed. To create this - within the TSM GUI - Edit Preferences - Go to Snapshot tab and insert and apply

good luck - hope this helps

What's your rate of change between backups? This is tied directly to the snapshot cache size percentage. That seems like it could be your problem.

I thought RC=12 was a permission Issue!!!!. I must be out of touch, these days...

Chad Why cant i Seem to find you in the company Global Address List

Rc=12

the RC=12 media was being in used at the time of the backup or the drive is using the media that you are trying to access for your backup that would fail your backup..
