    Hello,
    I sometimes get confused by the how VEREXISTS, VERDELETED, RETEXTRA and RETONLY work so I'm hoping you can tell me if my retention plans for my DEVELOPMENT, QUALITY ASSURANCE and PRODUCTION servers are properly set for what I want to accomplish...

    ------------------
    DAILY MANAGEMENT CLASS - runs daily
    (1 month retention)

    VEREXISTS=3, VERDEL=1, RETEXTRA=30, RETONLY=30

    MONTHLY MANAGEMENT CLASS - runs monthly
    (6 month retention)

    VEREXISTS=6, VERDEL=2, RETEXTRA=180, RETONLY=180
    ------------------------------------------------------------------

    QA_FILE_LEVEL
    ------------------
    STANDARD MANAGEMENT CLASS - runs daily
    (3 month retention)

    VEREXISTS=2, VERDEL=1, RETEXTRA=90, RETONLY=90
    ------------------------------------------------------------------

    QA_TDP_SQL
    ------------------

    VEREXISTS=30, VERDEL=2, RETEXTRA=30, RETONLY=30

    MONTHLY MANAGEMENT CLASS - runs monthly
    (3 month retention)

    VEREXISTS=3, VERDEL=1, RETEXTRA=90, RETONLY=90
    ------------------------------------------------------------------

    PROD_FILE_LEVEL
    ------------------
    STANDARD MANAGEMENT CLASS - runs daily
    (12 month retention)

    VEREXISTS=3, VERDEL=2, RETEXTRA=365, RETONLY=365
    ------------------------------------------------------------------

    PROD_TDP_SQL
    ------------------
    DAILY MANAGEMENT CLASS - runs daily
    (1 month retention)

    VEREXISTS=30, VERDEL=3, RETEXTRA=30, RETONLY=30

    MONTHLY MANAGEMENT CLASS - runs monthly
    (7 year retention) **To be replaced by Archive Policy soon

    VEREXISTS=84, VERDEL=3, RETEXTRA=2555, RETONLY=2555

    LOGS MANAGEMENT CLASS - runs 3 times/day

    VEREXISTS=90, VERDEL=3, RETEXTRA=30, RETONLY=30

    ???

    I believe no one can tell you if these are right or wrong.

    Policies like these are Business driven, Compliance set, and DR/BCP dictated. Thus, these policies must be discussed with management.

    I realize that!!!

    As you can see I put the retention in number of months for each management class and I'm just wondering if I put the correct values for what I'm trying to accomplish. I'm not asking if my business compliance policies are good.

    As I said, this is an internal decision. Validation is only through discussions.

    If you search the forum, I always post my recommendations this way.

    You don't seem to understand what I'm asking here! I'm not asking for validation on my policies I'm asking if the values in VEREXISTS, VERDELETED, RETEXTRA, RETONLY will accomplish the policies we have already decided.

    For your intention - yes. The ultimate way to find out is to validate this - test your settings.
