We have a netware box that has gone done an in turn we have lost the array and of course the data. We backup accross a WAN connection and to restore the user data will take days. I would like to fool TSM into restoring the data onto a local box and then take the image to the site. However I cannot get it to restore onto this box, it registers fine, the allow access has been set but still no joy. It just sits there and looks at me.

The command I have been using is

res -fromnode=deadserver deadserver\vol2:* fakeserver\vol2:/ -subdir=yes

Please can some come up with some ideas

This should work, but how can you restore from a dead server, it cannot login to TSM

I would do this:

On your fake server edit the dsm.opt file and make the nodename the deadserver's name

then just run a restore on the fakeserver and TSM will think it is the deadserver and login and restore data just fine.

you could even restore from the Web Gui, if you like.

be sure to use the -volinfo switch to restore the file rights on the fake server.
