Hi Guys,

Trying to move across my TSM instance to do a different physical server. Both are TSM 6.3.3.1.

I've tried restoring the database on the new server; however, I get the error below.

ANR1363I Input volume E:\TSMDBBKP\64340737.DSS opened (sequence number 1).
ANR0403I Session 1 ended for node $$_TSMDBMGR_$$ (DB2/NT64).
ANR2971E Database backup/restore/rollforward terminated - DB2 sqlcode -2025
error.
ANR2032E RESTORE DB: Command failed - internal server error detected.

Any ideas on this one guys?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Have you read the other post about this, a few lines down ? its in BCP/BRP section. It sounds like your devconfig is the issue.
Check that post as lots of useful info.

Hey tsm_dude,

Thanks for your prompt reply. I had not seen the other post to be honest, but it doesn't really matter, as I have resolved the issue.

I resolved it by re-running the TSM restore, and this time it worked.

I wish I knew why so I could at least write a proper response for anyone else that comes about this error.

Cheers,

Hi,

I am getting the exact error while recovering TSM DB backup to a different server. Can you provide more details - what was done to fix this?

Thanks..

ANR2971E

Hey bhaven41,

Nothing was really done to resolve it, I just re-ran the restore and it worked the second time around :|
I couldn't find anything in the logs which suggested what the problem was.

If you post up all your logs, devconfig, volhistory, dsmserv.opt file then I can try and assist you.

Hi bigred15,

It is strange - something which I can not understand. I tried it few times and it worked at the end. No changes in the environment. I have tired this few times in last 2 months, half of the times it did not work(same error as above) and half of the times it worked. I really do not understand what is going wrong.

Below message indicates communication protocol error but not sure which protocol/at which layer? I shall keep an eye on SAN switch port error next time I try this.

Hi SniperKing,

The article points to error "-50" - which is connection issue.
SQL2025N: An I/O error "-50" occurred on media "TSM".

#define DSM_RC_TCPIP_FAILURE -50 /* TCP/IP communications failure */

(* Anyway I had modified the these values but it did not help)

I am getting error code 136.

SQL2025N An I/O error occurred. Error code: "136". Media on which

this error occurred: "TSM"

Do let me know if you find any article on error "136"

Hi,
Here you are~ The 136 code should be the error return code from TSM api.

http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/tividd/td/TSMM/SC32-9090-01/en_US/HTML/anrcms5526.htm

136E DSM_RC_COMM_PROTOCOL_ERROR
Explanation:
Communications protocol error. An unexpected communications message was received by the client.

System Action:
TSM canceled the current operation.

User Response:
Verify that your communication path is functioning properly. If the problem continues, have your service representative check for a possible program error.

Thanks SniperKing , I saw that however did not get any clue how to solve it.

I may do a few tests again to reproduce the problem..
