good morning,

we use Server 2008R2/exchange 2010 sp3 Rollup2.
for Backup the Exchange Server/Mailbox, we use ExchangeTDP 6.4.1.2 and it works well.
The Problem is to restore something. Like i have sayed above, we are in a Forest environment and we are a childdomaine.
In this environment we have all rights for our Domain but not Organisation/Schema Admin.
Now, if i run a Restore Mailbox the job runs for ever. one Day later i can see in the Exchange MMC that a DB was createt with status of not inbound.
As i know thats ok , because it must build a tmp DB to extract the mailbox. but it`s not going on.

When I select a single Mailbox restore in the TDP console, appears the message "not enough rights for mail box Restore"
But why is the database created if i not have permission? Is that really true?
Next Stepp, I confirm the message "not enough rights for mail box Restore" OK.
Then it takes a while, and the mailboxes of all connected Exchange servers will appear.
It is not possible to set the focus on our domain? I do not need all of them.

I hope you can make it clearer for me.

greetings
michael

Hello,

as far as i know this can be a problem of insufficent user rights.
I do the restores with a special user which has domain administrator rights and the exchange database role, the Exchange Server Management role and the Exchange Organisation Management role.

Also i once hat a problem with single mailbox restore which is similar to yours. The solution was that the user with wich the restore is done, need to have a own exchange mailbox.
TDP Exchange needs that becaus it looks up some informations about the mailbox you want to restore.
Please notice: its important that you send a email to this mailbox once. Only then Exchange will really create the mailbox in the database.

I hope this helps :)

best regards,

Hello,
thank you for answer.
i have have read the manual about TDP Exchange and there is talking about orga Admin rights.
the problem is, we will have no Orga Admin rights in the feature.

I do not understand why you can not distinguish that. Why IBM can't do this?
We are but not the only ones who are only members of a forrestand not all rights have.your clue, to send a Mail, was new to me. i will give it a try.

best regards
michael
