Question about upgrading from TSM Client 5 to TSM client 6

We use a lot of TSM 5 clients. We now want to migrate to TSM 6 and accordingly upgrade the clients. Do we need to touch the dsm.opt too? Or it is enough simply to upgrade the client only? Changes to the syntax of dsm.opt? We then want to use even if the upgrade function of TSM 6 server. Is this reasonable?
