I have 4 lto5 drives and currently all 4 have tapes loaded up and looking at my libvol all those tapes are marked as private but I don't see any sessions or processes using those specific tapes.

Are there any other commands to find out if a tape in one of the drives is being used for a specific thing?

I've also checked them off volhistory and they aren't showing up there yet so I would assume Tivoli is still working with these tapes and has not finished whatever related task.

Thanks,

QUERY MOUNT is what you are looking for.

The status of the tape in Q LIBV is irrelevant here.

Q VOLHIST is also irrelevant here.

Thanks. I see that 1 is dismounting, one is idle and 2 are in use.

Is there a way to track what makes those two volumes "in use"?

Has to be a session or a process. Check Q SESS F=D, there's a column for media, and Q PROC, you should see output and/or input volumes.
