I am aware of three versions of dsm.sys, shown below, assuming default installation directory on Linux TSM platforms:
-- client version in /opt/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin64 if that directory exists (as it is on 64-bit installations), otherwise in /opt/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin
-- database manager api version in /opt/tivoli/tsm/client/api/bin64
-- server version in /opt/tivoli/tsm/server/bin/tsmdiag

My question is in what order these files are searched and read by administrative client dsmadmc on TSM server only installation, and on TSM client and server installation? The assumption being is that once dsm.sys with server stanzas is found further search isn't performed.

To the best of my recollection, on TSM client and server installation /usr/bin/dsmadmc will search dsm.sys files in the following order is:
1) client version
2) server version

And on TSM server only installation server version of administrative client /opt/tivoli/tsm/server/bin/tsmdiag/dsmadmc will search dsm.sys in the following order:

1) client version (allowing for the hacked version of dsm.sys to be read from manually created /opt/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin directory)
2) dababase manager version
3) server version

Thanks in advance!
