¿It's there any way to backup ONLY the permissions of folders and files? We are backing up all system/programs files just because we want to have a backup of the permissions of each folder/file.

Backing up this folders/file sometimes fail because they are beeing used by the system or a program. If we can backup only the permissions we will not have this error any more, and the backup will reduce his size.

And how can I backup ONLY ACL Permissions of the folders?

You can't, the permissions are part of the folders and the files. However, directories consists just of the name, attributes and permission, so you're really not backing up anything extra.

If we can backup only the permissions we will not have this error any more, and the backup will reduce his size.
Even if this was possible, it wouldn't be very useful, what would you do if you need to restore the files?

If Windows, enable open file support.

If Linux or AIX, change the copy serialization to shared dynamic.

Thanks for the response. We don't want to have backup of the systems files, but sometimes somes users had changed permissions of a folder/file and it was usefull to have a backup only because we can restore the permissions.
