can anyone help, please?

i am trying to import a node filespace into my ADSM 3.1 server, on AIX. The device is an 8mm tape devicxe, and has block size set at 1024.

The filespace is a single one which spans over 24 tapes, with 20 Gb of data on each tape. trying to import this data, each tae is taking 12 HOURS to get back... not only that, but it keeps failing, and the process bombs out and has to be started again!

Has anyone got any ideas on performance tuning, or any reasons as to why this is taking so long? or any clues to a solution would be preferable!

Many thanks

Hi,

Doing such an extensive import will put a strain on your TSM servers database. Watch the db and log fillingrate durint import ( q db, q log) exend your DB and log if needed be. It might also be wise to do a full DB backup on the database before starting your import and maybe also during import if it takes 12 h. Watch actlog for message

ANR2121W ATTENTION: More than xxxx MB of the database

has changed and the last database backup was more than xx

hours ago. Use the BACKUP DB command to provide for

database recovery .
