HI,

Storage devices are mapped with CIFS/SMB in TSM servers. TSM servers OS is windows 2012 R2 and storage is HP storeonce. But i am facing frequent problem with some volumes. These volumes went to UNAVAILABLE state in storage pools. How to overcome this problem ?

Which protocol is the best in TSM ? NFS or SMB/CIFS?

Both protocols require a reliable network connection. If there's any intermittent network connectivity issues, you can lose connectivity and if Spectrum Protect is doing an I/O operation at that time on a volume, it will mark it unavailable because at that instant, it cannot access it. If that's the issue, it doesn't matter which protocol you use, if the connection is not reliable, the same will happen with both protocols.

As far as which one is better, I don't know. I generally only see SMB/CIFS with Windows, I don't know if it's because it's built-in and ready to use, or if it's because it's better. But I have not seen NFS used much on Windows.
