NDMP Encryption For TSM Backup?

I am running TSM server v6.2 and v6.3

I have a customer who currently runs backups of their NAS estate via NDMP. This is running fine, but they now need to have the backup encrypted.

The NAS deviceclass does not support the encryption option, but i was wondering if there were plans to allow this. Or is this not possible due to the architecture of NDMP?

My two cents on this:

Encryption for NMDP backup will be complicated to implement given the nature of NMDP backup. Thus, this may not be Technically and Operationally viable to do so.

OnTap should provide the encryption algorthym prior to backups
