Hi,

I have a Win2K file server with files named in Russian and Japanese. Every time I back up this server I get errors for those files. Q FILE F=D shows that the filespace in question is not unicode. Could it be the reason? How to overcome?

TSM Server 5.1 for windows, TSM client 5.1, W2k SP2.

Regards,

Anton Gubarkov.

Anton,

A quick solution would be to update the autofsrename setting in the node parameters.

tsm> upd node xx autofsrename=yes

next time you backup that machine, the server will rename the old filespace <old filespace name>_OLD and send your backups to your newly created filespace (the name will be the same as the one you were using before it was renamed) which will have unicode turned on.

if you set the autofsrename to 'client' on the TSM server, then an option in the clients dsm.opt file autofsrename to 'yes'

dsm.opt entry:

autofsrename yes

that should sort everything out.

if not, reply!
