Looking for alternative backup solutions

Hi

We have Database (800gb) running on IBM RS6000/AIX 4.3.3/Oracle 8.1.7.4 with TSM/TDP for Iracle/RMAN as backupup and recovery solution at our client. Our management looking for alternatives to RMAN as backup solution since it was giving lots of performance problems.



Can somebody shed some light on what tools are available in the market using TSM as Media Management ( Tape backup) ? We are really in crunch, early response appreciated.

You should manage fine with RMAN if you get enough backup threads and tape drives working in parallel. Also, null compression needs to be on. You will need Fibre Channel attached 3590 tape drives and a TSM server with high PCI throughput.
