Hi, I want save some data for 365 days, I define a new stgpool called filepool_cofre to separate from my regular pool and the nextstgpool= lto6_cofre, i create a device class classfilecofre for the filepool_cofre and a devclass classltocofre for the stgpool LTO6_cofre i dont know if was really necessary this devclasses.

My problem is: The estimated capacity is 0 but i have 15tb free for this stgpool filepoolcofre and i have some scratch tapes for the lto6_cofre.

Hi, I want save some data for 365 days, I define a new stgpool called filepool_cofre to separate from my regular pool and the nextstgpool= lto6_cofre
First, that is not a TSM requirement to separate data with different retentions, but you can do that if that is what you want. The only case I would recommend not to split the data is if it was deduplicated, which is not your case at the moment.
a devclass classltocofre for the stgpool LTO6_cofre i dont know if was really necessary this devclasses.
If you are using the same library, you need a separate device class.
My problem is: The estimated capacity is 0 but i have 15tb free for this stgpool filepoolcofre and i have some scratch tapes for the lto6_cofre.
It's normal to see 0 bytes if no data has been written. The long explanation is here: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21388524 So no problem.

Thank you Marclant!

1- I do deduplication on my STG Filepool, but i dont know if i do for this offsite pool filepoolCofre, what u tell me about it? is there a problem?

Yes i have just one library for this TSMserver.
I think now i need to create a MC for this 365d retention to direct this archive data to this stgpool filepoolcofre right?

It's normal to see 0 bytes if no data has been written. The long explanation is here: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21388524 So no problem.
I was imagine this.

1- I do deduplication on my STG Filepool, but i dont know if i do for this offsite pool filepoolCofre, what u tell me about it? is there a problem?
Deduplication doesn't work across storage pools. You will have better deduplication reduction if you have one large deduplicated pool rather than a few smaller ones. It will still work if you have more than one deduplication pool, but you will have less savings because the same extents could exist in both pool. However, if you plan to move that data to tape anyway, then it is better off to go the route you are currently going.

I think now i need to create a MC for this 365d retention to direct this archive data to this stgpool filepoolcofre right?
Yes. You actually need a new MC for 2 reasons. First one is the different retention, second is different destination if you decide not to use your dedup pool.

Thank u Marcland, its working!!!
